INTERACTIONS

Without wishing to close off any other possibilities, we would like to suggest that Interactive Art is a space within which potentially new relationships between artist, world, artwork, and audience are articulated. Perhaps it is the possibility of existing in a place non-reliant on existing artworld relationships and structures that has a deep resonance for some artists.

As a way of starting to articulate and theorise this perspective on Interactive Art, it is useful perhaps to pick out one or two salient features from a few artworks, so as to begin to develop a language with which we all feel comfortable.

From diverse areas of practice, probably all of the artwork included in this small exhibition in some way engages in dialogues, networks and encounters. Some of the work attempts to articulate real-world networks of people and institutions, whilst other work attempts to construct situations and initiate interactions. An engagement with a matrixial aesthetic in the form of interweaving elements is also there in some of the work.

We look forward to presenting these works on Friday, and hope that you will be able to join us.
