In 1979 he founded the ground-breaking Performance Magazine which continued as an authoritative cultural voice in Europe until 1992.
He has a PhD in curatorial practice across disciplines and is an honorary Doctor of Arts at Dartington College of Arts.
Rob la Frenais will show and discuss various site and venue-based projects and commissions by the science-art agency (Arts Catalyst) from recent years, with an emphasis on collaboration. Artists include Aleksandra Mir, N55, London Fieldworks, Tomas Saraceno, Anne Brodie, Joanna Griffin, Ruth Maclennan, Nicolas Primat, Anthony Hall, Simon Hollington and Kyp Kyprianou, Chjris Oakley, Neal White and Ashok Sukumaran.
During the seminar on Thursday 7 May, Rob will discuss his practice as a curator, his PhD and subsequent research in curatorial practice across disciplines. There will be plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion.
